Comments on the peer groups' pitches

The “Machine learning for traffic” -group’s pitch was successful. The speaker had a calm way of speaking, and the use of voice was good. The presentation had a fine structure, and the speaker also used some humour as a device. However, the message was a bit unclear since still after the pitch I wasn’t sure what the main point of the project is. Fortunately, I wasn’t the only one and that was covered with an answer to a question afterwards.

The “Makerspoint Oy” -group’s pitch was compact and informative. It was easy to understand, the structure was clear, and the project even had a workable slogan. The speaker spoke loud enough, but in my opinion, a bit slower pace would have brought even more value to the presentation.

Overall, it seemed like the both groups had put some effort into the task. Good job!

Week 50

This week started already on Monday since we still had some things to finish before the pitching event on Tuesday. Regarding our pitch, there was some slight finalizing to do with the structure and the PowerPoint-slideshow. Besides that, we focused on studying the previous laboratory analyses concerning the subject matter, so we could properly prepare our own laboratory plan. We also managed to wrap up a more detailed schedule for the whole project using the GANTT-chart.

The pitching event took place at ICT on Tuesday morning. We got to hear many interesting presentations from the other Capstone-groups, which was nice, and our own pitch went also quite well despites the fact that we didn’t make it to the final round.

After the competition, we stayed at school and continued with the laboratory research and budget planning. We compiled the interim report together as well and decided who is going to take care of the few missing things.

All in all, we are in a good place with the project at the moment, and excited to go on after the holidays.

PO-Meeting 7.12.2018

7.12.2018 Project meeting
Our project meeting on 7.12. was our latest meeting and we discussed what we will do and how we are going to report our findings and test results after new year to Valter.
We decided to go with Phosphor analyzing and calculate the budget for it aswell as for nitrogen. The test results would be reported with a simple excell table which show the reagents, time taken, attendants, laboratory leader, results and so on. Pretty much the basic stuff that you need to cover when making a laboratory report.
Valter also mentioned that we would get the results from the dreddged soil that has been dug up from Raisio harbour.
For next time we aggreed to find out the bulk price of chalck that would be spread to the fields.
Valter asked us to find out how big screens we had for the separation project of different sized granutales of the substance we are analyzing.

Summary week 48

First, we thought about what we plan to do today and organized our next work.

On Tuesday, we described our organization structure because our PO asked us to be clearer about our role in this project. So, for instance we planned which of us you will be responsible to do the lab testing, or the person responsible to stay in contact with the PO etc…
Then, thanks to a mail that we received from our PO, we obtained some additional information concerning their stakeholders. After that, we are able to make a stakeholder map and we completed it with the “stakeholders’ presentation” from the lecture.
Finally, we started to think about some laboratory experiences that we want to realize with the light crushed aggregate.

Concerning Friday, we decided after the lecture to work individually on our pitch at home instead of group work.
